Call for Papers

We are pleased to introduce our new quarterly journal, Spermatogenesis. Spermatogenesis is an international peer-reviewed journal that focuses on all aspects of spermatogenesis. Our goal is to understand the biology and regulation of spermatogenesis. These findings will provide new means for male contraceptive research and development. They will also improve male reproductive health and contribute to the therapeutic management of male infertility.

Journal topics will include:
Differentiation of gonocytes to spermatogonia
Regulation and biology of spermatogonial stem cells
Regulation of spermatogonial renewals via mitosis
Differentiation of spermatogonia
Germ cell cycle regulation
Meiosis and its regulation
Role of cyclins and protein kinases (such as MAPK) in cell cycle progression and meiosis
Regulation of spermiogenesis and spermiation
Sertoli-germ cell interactions
Blood-testis barrier function and regulation
Polarity proteins, GTPases and spermatogenesis
Epigenetics and spermatogenesis
Impact of environmental toxicants on spermatogenesis
Environments, lifestyles and spermatogenesis
Comparative and evolutionary studies of spermatogenesis
Male contraception (hormonal and nonhormonal):
Clinical and nonclinical studies
Transcription and post-transcriptional regulation of spermatogenesis
Genomics, proteomics and spermatogenesis
New technologies to study spermatogenesis

Spermatogenesis will publish five general types of papers: (1) Original Research, (2) Reviews, (3) Opinion Articles, (4) Methods, Technologies and Protocols pertinent to the study of spermatogenesis and (5) Trends and Meeting Reports. Original Research papers cover topics as outlined above relating to all aspects of spermatogenesis. Reviews take several forms and are generally invited; however, unsolicited reviews on timely topics are also welcome. Opinion Articles are short mini-reviews on a very specific research topic. Methods, Technologies and Protocols give experts in the field the opportunity to provide technical updates pertinent to research in spermatogenesis. Trends are 1–2 pages articles that summarize an exciting and timely development in the field. Meeting Reports summarize important findings/opinions from national and international meetings pertinent to research in spermatogenesis.

Spermatogenesis utilizes an online submission and tracking system designed to provide better, more efficient service to authors:
