Call for Papers

Fly is the first international peer-reviewed journal to focus exclusively on Drosophila research. All of our articles appear both online and in print. Fly is abstracted/indexed in: Medline/PubMed, Science Citation Index Expanded (available as Current Contents/Life Sciences, Zoological Record, Biological Abstract and Biosis Previews).

We welcome submissions in all areas of Drosophila biology in a variety of formats. We also invite suggestions from readers to help us achieve our goal of developing Fly into an essential resource for the fly community. Notes to Potential Authors:

  • Fly publishes: Original Research Papers, Brief Communications, Review Articles, Extra Views, Methods and Technical Advances, Opinion Essays, Commentaries, Meeting Reports
  • Fly also invites short review articles from graduate students.

  • Fly offers rapid peer review. Authors are usually notified of the initial decision within two weeks.
  • If your paper is accepted by Fly it will be published online within two weeks.
  • If your paper is accepted by Fly it will appear on PubMed/Medline within two weeks.
  • To expedite the review of manuscripts that were previously considered at other journals, authors are encouraged to submit the manuscript directly to Fly in its original format and to include the comments of previous reviewers.
